Specs that actually affect the game (and your photos)

  1. Fixture lumens & efficacy (not watts): Good floodlights deliver ~130–170 lm/W at the fixture level. Always compare fixture lumens and beam options, not just wattage.

  2. Beam control & aiming: Use narrow beams for long throws from tall masts; asymmetric beams to cut glare on courts and reduce neighbour complaints. Request visors/shields at sensitive boundaries.

  3. Colour quality: CRI ≥80 improves ball tracking and skin tones. For broadcast, ask for camera-friendly specs (e.g., TLCI/TM-30 data).

  4. Glare control: Ask suppliers to report glare indices (e.g., GR where applicable) and show spill-light plots to site boundaries.

  5. Maintainability: Field-replaceable drivers, labeled terminals, tilt indicators for re-aiming after maintenance.
